Born August 30, 1934 in Jackson County, MS. He went to Heaven on March 20, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. In his professional career he was a Tug Boat Captain on the Mississippi River. He enjoyed camping on the river with his family, fishing, hunting and shrimping.
Preceded in death by his parents, Birdie & Frederic Sward, brothers Tony and Mike Sward, grandchildren: Levi Tanner, Ryan Sward & J.J. Helms. Numerous other departed loved ones.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Lavon Smith Sward. children: Gene & Debbie Sward , Ricky & Ramona Sward , Cheryl & Jessie Helms, Lora & Mark Ost, Alan & Pam Sward. Devoted grandchildren, Justin & Brooke Sward, Heather Sward, Jeanne & Steven Necaise, Alicia Ladnier & Olaf DeGeorge , Wayne Ladnier, Avery Sward, and Alex Sward.
