Will Brasfield Dies After Brief Illness

Will Brasfield, 61-year-old Gonzales Negro, whose father and mother were born and buried in this county, died Friday after a brief illness, He was a retired farmer and in the last few years had worked for Addison Reid as a handyman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Mount Pilgrim Baptist church, followed by interment in City Cemetery.

Pall bearers will be R. A. Steen, Wesley Sidney, Joe Mitchel, Albert White, Marjon Haufsen and Eddie Carrol.

A son of the late William and Peggy Brasfield, he observed his 61st birthday on January 15. Surviving Brasfield are his widow Sallie Brasfield and six children.

These include Zula Silas and Lilian Fealon of San Antonio; and Mattie Rosemond, Aaron Brasfield, Louis Brasfield and Jeff Brasfield, all of Gonzales.

He also leaves two sisters, Lou Polk and Halley Scruggs, 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Brasfield attended the old Terryville School and 40 years ago joined the Baptist church.
