READSTOWN, Wis. ? Lillian M. Larson, 85, of Readstown, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, Wis. She had received care at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove, Wis., during this past year.

She was born in the town of Kickapoo, Vernon County, Wis., on Feb. 10, 1919, to William Harold and Mabel (Simpson) Crook. She married Carl B. Larson on Jan. 16, 1937, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa.

She helped make butter at the Readstown Creamery and also worked as a clerk at the Readstown Post Office for several years. She was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Readstown and served as Ladies Aid President for about 30 years.

She loved to bake and cook, and her recipes were well-known throughout the community. She was very proud of a cookbook compiled by a granddaughter.

She is survived by one son, Chris (Sue) Larson of Readstown; one daughter, Virginia Solverson of Carbondale, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Matt and Christy Solverson of Carbondale, Shari (Larson) and Bob Von Ruden of Westby, Wis., Rick and Carmen Larson of West Salem, Wis., Lisa Larson of Viroqua, Wis., Chad Larson of Readstown, Shannon Larson of Rice Lake, Wis., and Shawna (Larson) and Mitch Felton of Rochester, Minn.; six great-grandchildren, Jordan and Keasha Lander, and Connor Von Ruden, all of Westby, Emily Solverson of Carbondale, Juanita Christenson of Onalaska, Wis., and Regan Larson of Viroqua; and one stepgreat-granddaughter, Savannah Palmi of West Salem, Wis.; and her sister, Geraldine Slaback of Viroqua.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son, Roger "Jughead," and daughter-in-law, Ruby Larson; one granddaughter, Signe Solverson; and one son-in-law, Lyle Solverson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Meg Hoversten will officiate and burial will be in the Readstown Cemetery. Friends may call at the Sime Funeral Home in Readstown from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:45 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday from. 10:30 a.m. until time of services.

Memorials may be given to the church (Peace Lutheran Church), the Readstown E.M.S., and the Sannes Skogdalen Activity Fund.
