After an illness of two weeks Delbert W. Bennett, a resident of Faribault since 1911, passed away at 7:15 Sunday morning at the St. Lucas hospital.
Mr. Bennett was taken to the hospital last Saturday morning and an operation was performed at 10 o'clock Saturday forenoon. He had been suffering from an abscess of the appendix. Saturday evening he was resting easily, although he was very weak, but Sunday morning he breathed his last. Mrs. Bennett was with him during the last hours.
Mr. Bennett was born at Delmore Junction, Iowa, in 1873, and was 52 years of age at the time of his death. He was the son of Melvin Bennett who survives him. His mother passed away three years ago.
In addition to his father he is survived by his wife, two children and one grandchild. The children are Mrs. Robert Zuelke of Faribault and Carl Bennett of Long Beach, California. The other survivors are his father, Melvin Bennett, two brothers, Frank and John, two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Drooman and Mrs. Edna Alexander, all of Los Angeles, Cal.
All have been notified of his death and his son is on his way home and is expected to arrive here some time today.
Mr. Bennett came to Faribault in 1911 and was in business here for 14 years. He was well known both in the city and the surrounding community and members of his family have the sympathy of his many friends. Plans for the funeral services had not been completed this forenoon.
