Born August 20, 1929, in Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Amos was the daughter of the late William Lee Judefind and Eleanor (Schafer) Judefind.
A homemaker, Mary was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Accident, MD, and was active in the Ladies' Aid Society.
While living in Hanover, Mary was honored with a Paul Harris Fellowship by the Hanover Rotary Club. She was also an honorary member of the Cumberland Rotary Club and a business partner with her husband, Charles Amos, a locally and nationally known artist, trading as the Amos Collection. In 1990, she completed the Dale Carnegie Course. Mary also served as a receptionist for the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce.
Mary is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles L. Amos; sons, William Amos and wife, Ruth of Chesapeake Beach, MD, James W. Amos of Baltimore, and Brook T. Amos and wife, Mindy of Lynnwood, WA; daughter, Mary B. Smutny and husband, Christopher of Stewartstown; sister, Isabel Agnew of Palm Springs, CA; as well as 11 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, MD, March 31, 2012, at 12 noon with the Rev. Timothy Kielley of New Hope Faith Community Church, Hanover/Littlestown, officiating. Interment will be in Druid Ridge Cemetery, Baltimore, April 2, 2012, at 12 noon with the Rev. Robert Reibau of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.
