Marcella Burckal was born in Wheaton to Maximilian and Mary Burckal. Her family owned the Burckal Cash Market in Wheaton. She was the beloved wife of Vincent Schmitz in 1945 and they had 3 daughters but Vincent passed away. Her 2nd husband, Joseph Muehlfelt in 1954, they had 6 children. Her 3rd husband was Melvin Slattengren.
She was the loving mother of Mary Ann Schmitz, Lynda (Ron) Schultz, Virginia Sampson, Shirley Harts, Sue Givens, Eric Schultz, Sallie (Paul) Craig, Steve (Terri) Muehlfelt, Sindy Rogers and the late Joey Muehlfelt; dear step-mother of Harold (the late Lois)Muehlfelt, Ronald (Donna) Muehlfelt, Dean (Pauline) Muehlfelt and Dolores Jones. She was the grandmother of 34 and great-grandmother of 50; sister of the late Maxine Hopkins Corl and the late Juanita Bestler.
