Hepsibah Hurlburt Burnham Randall was born in East Hartford Connecticut April 12, 1783. She was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Hurlburt. She was probably named for her mother's sister, Hepsibah Pratt Rockwell. She married Michael Burnham in 1819 and two years later, their son Andrew was born. They moved to Pittsfield, New York and shortly after that and had another daughter, Sarah, in January 1824. Sarah was probably named after her grandmother, Sarah Roberts Hurlburt. The Hurlburt Genealogy mentions a possible third child, Jane, but no evidence has been found for that, outside that source. In 1827, her husband Michael died. He left no will, but records show she assumed control of his estate. A year later, she remarried to Henry Randall, also from Connecticut. She remained in Pittsfield until her death December 3, 1851. In the 1850 census, she is listed as living with her son Andrew on a farm worth $4500. Andrew had received a bequest of land in Connecticut from his grandfather Aaron Burnham Jr., when he died in 1832, and it is possible, this was sold and the proceeds used to support and possibly expand the farm in Pittsfield. Her daughter Sarah married S.W. Day and spent many years running an Inn in multiple locations in nearby towns. Her son, moved away after her death to Woodhull in Stueben County with his new bride Julia Jane Locke. They had three children, Frank, Willie, and Nellie. Andrew died in Bradford, McKean County Pennsylvania. Sarah lived past 90 years and died in Utica, New York and is also buried in Pittsfield. Hepsibah is buried next to her husband Michael in an abandoned cemetery, called Locust Grove, in Pittsfield. It is located on private land owned by a farmer today and her grave marker has not been definitively identified.
