Johanna Maas was born in Grohsbreiten, Germany, on the 16 of November, 1829, and when a girl of fourteen years came to America with her parents and two sisters and a brother.
They settled in the town of Mequon on a farm. Forty-eight years ago they sold the same and moved on a farm in Cedarburg where she has resided since.
She was a kind, dutiful wife and mother and her death will be sadly mourned by a large number of friends and relatives.
The deceased was married to Aug. Maas in the year 1848. Their union was blessed with 11 children, five of them who survive are Mrs. Julius Priebe of Wausau, Mrs. Oscar Schlegel of West Bend, Mrs. Henry Miller and Mrs. H. Schellenberg of Cedarburg, and John who resides on the homestead, besides thirty-one grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sunday and was very largely attended. Rev. E.G.Strassburger officiated.
