He was a Sergeant in the US Army serving in the Korean War. He retired from Rock Hill Telephone Company with 33 years of service and was past president of the Telephone Pioneers Club. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was an honorary lifetime deacon, past Sunday School teacher, past Brotherhood president, past deacon chairman and served on numerous church committees. He was a member of the BPOE, TPA, Woodmen of the World, American Legion and was a mason.
