Anderson, Alton "Shot" A retired pump maintenance mechanic with Ethyl Corp., he died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 80 and a native of Olive Branch.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater with Troop E, 12th Calvary.

Visitation at Florida Boulevard Baptist Church, 10915 Florida Blvd., religious service, conducted by Dr. Stephen Trammell and Dr. Dennis Johnsey. Interment in Redwood Cemetery in Slaughter.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Violet "Vi" Ash Anderson; daughter and son-in-law, Jana Kay and Richard Carley; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Alton and Deborah Anderson and Judge Richard D. and Suzanne Anderson; stepson, Sal Broes and wife Roxanne; stepdaughter, Candi James and husband Edmond; 10 grandchildren, Shelley Anderson, Shannon Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Alex Anderson, Nikolas Carley, Lewis Carley, Trey Broes and wife Shelly, Jordan Broes and John Mark James; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Broes and Jordan Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou McKay Anderson; parents, Louis and Mattie Cook Anderson; four sisters and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Ronnie Anderson, Donnie Anderson, Rusty Anderson, Gary Montgomery, Mac Montgomery, Jimmy Hodges, Kenny Hodges, David Anderson, Mark Marcum and Paul Adams.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Maurice Nassar, Dr. Thomas Quaid, Donald Jacobson and Ernest Ott.

He was a member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church and the "Magic" Sunday School Class. Memorial donations may be made to Florida Boulevard Baptist Church.

Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., is in charge of arrangements.
