Town of Chilton Farmer Hangs Self
George Oakley, farmer living in the Town of Chilton, two and one-half miles west of Chilton, hanged himself in his barn and was found at seven o'clock this morning.
It is believed Mr. Oakley took his life because of financial trouble and poor health. He is survived by his wife and eleven grown children. Further particulars will be in Tuesdays's paper.
Funeral Rites for Geo. Oakley Today
The funeral of George Oakley, 68, who died at his home In Chilton town Monday, was held from St. Boniface church At 10:00 a.m. today.
Burial was in the Breed cemetery. Rev H. M. Keyes conducted The services.
Mr. Oakley was born in the town of Charlestown, May 27, 1864, A son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Cyrus Oakley. Following his Marriage to Miss Mary Merrill the couple lived on a farm in Charlestown until 22 years ago when they purchased the Herman Alves farm in Chilton town.
Mr. Oakley's second marriage to Miss Lydia Merrill of Sheboygan took place about two years ago.
Survivors are the widow and eleven children: Ray, Sherwood; Mrs. Joseph Anders, Oshkosh; William and Mrs. Ed Schneider, Kiel; Ernest, Fond du Lac; Claude, Fond du Lac; Mrs. Burton Hoffman, Stockbridge; Mrs. Arthur Phillips, Chilton; Mrs. Ben Thorp, Fond du Lac; Chester and Donald, at home; and 14 grandchildren.
