Hal Crayne, 80 years, of Jefferson, died Friday, February 26, 1960, in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr. Crayne was a son of David B. and Jennie Bane Crayne, and was born March 15, 1879, in Morgan Township. He was associated in the mercantile business for most of his life, working for many years in the grocery store of the late Thomas M. Smith, and later owning that store in partnership with the late William A. Moredock. His wife, Elizabeth R. Myers Crayne, whom he married April 24, 1900, died January 16, 1938. Mr. Crayne was a member of Waynesburg Lodge 153, F. and A.M., and the Pennsylvania Consistory, Pittsburgh. Surviving are four sons, Allen and Hal Crayne, Jr., both of Mather; Myers Crayne, of Jefferson, and Jack Crayne of Grindstone R. D. 1; 13 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. One daughter, Isabel Crayne Swecker, and two sons, David and Hughes, are deceased.
