Gunshot Caused Woman's Death

MECHANIC FALLS -- The death Saturday morning of Mrs. Constance C. Ford, 25, of Rt. 26, was caused by a self inflicted gunshot wound, police reported here Saturday night.

Police Chief Brad J. Buck said Mrs. Ford was found in the bedroom of her home when her husband, Peter J. Ford, returned home shortly before 10 a.m.

Rescue personnel from Poland and Mechanic Falls were dispatched to the scene.

Chief Buck said the death remains under investigation.

Assisting Chief Buck in the investigation were Sheriff Lionel A. Cote and members of his department including Lt. David Eaton, Det. Robert Cloutier and Deputies Raymond Michaud and Emmet Stuart.

Asst. District Atty. Kevin Regan also was at the scene and State Police Detective Bruce Rafnell took part in the investigation.

Mrs. Ford was born September 11, 1951, at Ft. Sill, Okla. and was the adopted daughter of Maynard Coffin of Lubbock, Texas and Beverly Prince Coffin of Mechanic Falls.

She attended Mechanic Falls schools and graduated in 1969 from Edward Little High School. She had been employed at Tampax Co. in Auburn.

She married Peter Ford on July 4, 1976.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Carrie Ann of Mechanic Falls; her parents and her maternal grandfather, Ralph Prince of Mechanic Falls.

FORD -- In Mechanic Falls, March 12, 1977, Mrs. Constance Ford, age 25, of Route 26, Mechanic Falls. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Raymond Funeral Home, 5 Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls with interment in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
