Martha (Oakley) Thacher was the daughter of Benjamin and Phebe (Dow) Oakley. She was the 2nd wife of Rev. William Greenleaf Thacher. Rev. Thacher was a minister in the New York Conference and Philadelphia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. They were married New York City December 29, 1807. Rev. Thacher died August 2, 1856. Martha "kept a millinery shop at No. 445 Pearl St., New York City."
