He was united in marriage to Katie Young, January 26, 1906 and to this union seven children were born. His wife and two children preceded him in death.
Uncle Lige, as he was usually called by most people, professed faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Hytop, Kentucky in June 1917 and was baptized. He was a devout Christian.
He leaves to mourn his passing three sons:
Roy - Tazewell, Virginia
Loyd, Lake City, Florida
Joe, Corbin, Kentucky
two daughters:
Mrs. Ham Shackleford - Cincinnati, Ohio
Mrs. Paris Drummonds, New Tazewell
25 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
He often talked to his children of his eternal home. We feel that our loss is Heaven's gain.
A love one from us is gone;
A voice we loved is still;
a place is vacant in our home,
which can never be filled
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Mars Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Louie Dunsmore and Rev. E. S. Drummonds officiating. Interment Drummonds Cemetery. Pallbearers C. M. Drummonds, Isam Drummonds, Willie Drummonds, Walter Wilcox, Blair Capp, and John England. Giles Reece, New Tazewell, in charge.
