Jane was the daughter of Frank and Marey Gunn.

Jane Gunn married William McCutcheon (1805-1854) on 11 February 1834 at the Church of Ireland in the county of Stradbally, Ireland. He was a weaver and died in Tipperary, Ireland, on 6 February 1854. (This paragraph was supplied by another Find A Grave contributor.)

Jane immigrated from Ireland to Texas with some of her children. Sources are not in agreement on the year. In the 1910 census her immigration year was listed as 1889.

Jane was the mother of nine children, six of whom survived her. She died at the home of her son Robert near Pleasant Mound, Dallas County. In addition to Robert, Jane was survived by two sons and two daughters in Australia, and a son in British Columbia. Grandchildren included Currie McCutcheon, County Attorney of Dallas County, and Mrs. A. E. Hall of Dallas.
