Fred H. Schoenthal, well known and respected resident of clarence, departed this life Friday, July 12, 1929, aged 55 years. He had been in poor health for some time, and was taken for treatment to the Deaconess hospital, Buffalo, three weeks ago. Three operations were performed in the hopes of saving is life, but disease conquered.
The deceased was born in Wyoming county, the son of the late Henry and Christian Schoenthal (nee Reiline), on January 6, 1874.
His loss is mourned by his wife, formerly Bertha Cappellar of Forks, two sons and a daughter, harold Schoenthal of Clarence and Irma and John Schoenthal at home, three brothers, Arthur Schoenthal at home, three brothers, Arthur Schoenthal of Fredonia, Edward and Alvin Schoenthal of Darien Center, and five sisters, Delia Schoenthal of Darien Center, Mrs. Melbourne Geyer of Chillicothe, Ohio, Mrs. Lester Schoen of New Jersey, Mrs. John Cappellar of Bellevue and Mrs. Frank Eiss of Lancaster.
The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the family residence, the Daniel Long farm. The deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and his pastor, Rev. H. A. Reed of the Clarence church, officiated. His three brothers, Alvin, Arthur and Edward Schoenthal, and brothers-in-law Frank Eiss, John Cappallar and Edward Ely were bearers. Burial was made at Pine Hill. -- Amherst Bee.
