George Washington Pike George W. Pike, 75, retired merchant and farmer of Kirkville, died at the Anderson nursing home in Ottumwa at 11:30 AM Monday, August 25. He had been ill several months and a nursing home since June 5.

He was born at Hopkins Missouri and came to Kirkville as a child, spending the rest of his life there. He was married to Miss Maggie Burgess, who survives. As a young man he engaged in farming and for about 30 years he operated the post office and general store in Kirkville. He retired from active business about three years ago.

Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, Mrs. James Deitch of Kirkville; three brothers, The Rev. R.V. Pike of Westchester, Leon Pike of Manitowoc, Wis. and Herman Pike of Sioux Falls,South Dakota and six grandchildren. One son, and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services are were held at 2 PM Wednesday at Kirkville Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. George Smith of Delta. Burial was in Westview cemetery.
