Andrew was born in Scotland and left to seek his fortune in New Zealand where he married Jane Ann Paddon. Jane Ann was born in Australia. Her parents were British. Andrew and Jane were among the first in New Zealand to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and subsequently came to America and settled in Utah.
