Anne M. Gann, 84, of Mattoon, formerly of Decatur, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 in Gowin Parc, Mattoon. Anne was born March 22, 1925, in New York, NY, the daughter of George and Mary (Swinburne) Hughes.

Anne rose from a Customer Service Representative at a bank in Havana, Illinois in 1948 to Vice President at Soy Capital Bank in Decatur, Illinois where she retired in 1998. She married Otis L. "Bud" Gann August 14, 1945 on VJ Day in New York's Time Square and he preceded her in death on October 8, 2004.

Anne was devoted to her church, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Decatur, Illinois. Anne was a Charter Member of the parish and over the course of her lifetime, served in both the school and the church. Anne was an avid bridge player and after retirement, she enjoyed traveling abroad, visiting Ireland, Spain, France and Italy. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and good friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Michael and wife, Laurie Gann, of Charleston, Illinois; daughters: Patricia Braden of Stover, Missouri, and Barbara and husband, Michael Roberts of Mahomet, Illinois, eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews in New York.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a sister.

Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Illiopolis.
