Mary Lou Bernthal Cushing, 85, of Palmetto, Florida, formerly of Danville, died at 1 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Tidewell Hospice Center in Palmetto.
She was born on June 26, 1926 in Danville, to John Gary and Sophia Hermina Schmidt Ackelmire. She married Albert F. Bernthal on June 20, 1948 in Danville. He preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred Ackelmire. She then married Leonard Cushing on April 26, 1996. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, David G. (Jane) Bernthal of Mahomet; two grandchildren, Randal-Allison Bernthal and Barry Karuzis and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Brynley.
