Consort Queen of Spain, Naples and Sicily. Daughter of the King of Poland and Prince of Saxony Augustus III, and an Habsburg by maternal descent. She was considered a very cultured woman and protector of the arts. In fact, as Queen of the Kingdom of Naples and of the Two Sicilies (1738-1759) she contributed to the creation of works such as the Royal Palace of Caserta, the San Carlo Theater and the Royal Palace of Naples. In 1759, following the death of Ferdinand VI of Spain, she moved to Madrid with her husband who ascended the throne with the name of Charles III. Maria Amelia of Saxony died just a year later from tuberculosis.
