Mariah or Maire Pryor was a beloved sister of William, John, James, and Dennis Pryor. Siblings Margaret, Patrick and Ann passed before. For several years she lived with her brother John at 68 Terrace View Av. Marble Hill. She died at that address and buried in Calvary cemetery after a Solemn Requiem Funeral Mass at St. John's church.

Mariah immigrated to the USA on January 3rd 1908 to help her brother John and his 7 children after the death of his wife and their mother Elizabeth Finnegan Pryor. John's older brother, William, was sent to Ireland to fetch Mariah who would care for the children for many years. On January 30th of 1908 the SS Oceanic sailed into New York Harbor with William Pryor "Gent." US Citizen age 40 with "wife" Mariah Pryor age 35 identified as a "non immigrant alien". (William was actually married to Bridget Callahan. Mariah would later legalize her status obtaining citizenship in the 1930's)

Mariah never married. During the 1920's and 30's she was employed as a Parish Housekeeper for St. Joseph's Catholic Church 41 Manning Avenue North Plainfield, NJ. Later she was employed for several years as Parish Housekeeper at St Mary's Church in Yonkers New York. In her later years she became a citizen of the USA and lived with her brother John, then a retired NYC policeman. She was a lovely person who cared for all of her nephew and nieces but had a special bond with her youngest niece Genevieve Pryor Quirk.
