Items from Anywhere: -Mrs. Matilda Denton, nee Henry, at the advanced age of 85 years, passed away at the home of Little John Grace, living a short distance northwest of Sparks Hill, last Friday morning, December 1, 1922, and was buried across the County line in Gallatin County Saturday afternoon. Rev. T.M. Ozee conducted the funeral services. She was an aunt of J.W. Henry of this place, a step mother of William Denton of Shawneetown and J.E. Denton of this place, having married their father, A.M. Denton more than 40 years ago. She has been an invalid for several years more from senile debility than from any specific ailment, and for sometimes had been totally helpless. She had no children of her own, but raised an orphan girl who married John Grace, and for some time prior to her death she had lived with the foster child and her husband. Our acquaintance with the deceased was slight, but she impressed us as being an agreeable, pleasant and very kind hearted and her reputation by those who know her well, fully bears out such an estimate of her. Because of her senile and helpless condition, her relatives and friends cannot wish her back, however near and dear she was to them in her lifetime. J.W. Henry and three little girls, Mrs. Phoebe Manhart and two or three of her children and James E. Denton attended the obsequies from this place. We beg to extend sympathy to both relatives and friends of the deceased.
