Jeremiah subdivided his farm and deeded the land for the Knapp-Bouton Cemetery.

Jeremiah was a farmer, later a shoe maker. He outlived three wives, he was the child to Jacob Knapp and Mary Edwards Knapp of Amenia NY. Jacob was son of Zadock Knapp from Danbury CT. Jeremiah's Great-Grandfather, John Bushnell Knapp, Sr. , of Danbury CT, was an officer in the French and Indian War, and in 1758, he was killed on Shipboard on Lake Erie. John Bushnell Knapp Sr's Great-Grandparents were Nicholas Knapp and Elinor Disbrow Lockwood, settlers of Stamford CT.
