PRINCETON - Pearl Jones Bailey, 85, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. Born Sept. 16, 1926 in Hensley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Jones and Mae Hager Jones. Pearl was a former cook for the Mcdowell County Board of Education and had been a resident of Princeton since 2000 moving here from Hensley. She was a member of the Myrtle Valley Regular Baptist Church in Hensley and was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenis Bailey; one son, Kenneth Bailey; one daughter, Wanda Bailey Swick; two granddaughters, Angie Swick and Michelle Lester; one grandson, Arby Bailey; two brothers, Bob Jones and Verlin Jones; and two sisters, Josephine Dameron and Mattie Lucas.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Harless of Iaeger, and Anita Bailey Kennedy of Princeton, with whom she made her home; one son, Raymond Bailey of Big Sandy; nine grandchildren, Robbie Bailey, Michael Bailey, Sonya Gibson, Melissa Bailey, Amy Hollins, Valerie Perkins, Davey Swick, Matthew Bailey, and Shea Swick; 14 great-grandchildren, including Holly Daniels of Princeton, whom she raised; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Howard Jones and wife, Lettie, of Princeton; four sisters, Lodena Lester of Princeton, Dorothy Mays of Ohio, Patricia Milam and husband, Norman of North Carolina, and Emma Blankenship and husband, Doug, of Big Sandy; and special cousin, Faye Cole of Princeton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home, with her nephew, Pastor Eric Blankenship and brother-in-law, the Rev. Doug Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluewell. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton is serving the Bailey family.
