Rev. Edmund Garvin Wilcox was an out of wedlock child of Christiaan Garvin and Dr. Edmund Wilcox, a wealthy man in Virginia. They had another son, John Wilcox also. They never married. Dr. Wilcox left money in his will for Christiaan to take care of herself and their and two sons Two years before Dr. Wilcox died, he married Susanna Bolling. There was a courtroom battle over the will and Christiana lost. Two other people, both men, sued about something else, but lost to Wilcox's wife. Christiana eventually married Peter Cartwright, father of the famous preacher, Rev. Peter Cartwright. Rev. Wilcox married 1st, Anna Rollings and 2nd, Sarah _____.


He became one of the leading progenitors of Methodism in western Kentucky. There used to be a marker where his grave is which was placed by his son, Isaac Newton Wilcox.
