MACON -William Richard Mathias, 94, of Springfield, formerly of Macon, died 4:30 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 22, 1993) in Lewis Memorial Christian Home, Springfield.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Ater-Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon, with visitation from noon until time of services. Burial will be in Macon Cemetery, Macon. Memorials: Macon Presbyterian Church or Fairhavens Christian Home, Decatur.
Mr. Mathias was born Nov. 5, 1898, in Macon, the son of William Richard and Heneretta Richardson Mathias. He was a charter member of Macon Presbyterian Church. He was the retired owner and operator of Bill's Gas House, Macon, and
Signal Depot, Decatur. He married Iva Schlingman on Aug. 29, 1924 in Decatur.
She died on July 26, 1988.
Surviving are his daughters, Wilma Gasaway of Springfield; Eula Marie Newbould of Grand Blanc, Mich.; grandchildren, E'Lane Tufts of Bloomington; Bradley Newbould of Rochester, N.Y.; Beth Newbould of Grand Blanc, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
