Irene Alford 85,of Texarkana, Texas died Thursday October 23,2003 in a local hospital. Mrs. Alford was born September 25,1918 in Eagle Pass, Texas. She was retired from Houston Water Department and a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She was preceaded in death by her husband, Harold Alford. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David and Janet Alford of Dallas; one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Bevins Raulston of Dallas; two brothers, Robert Smith of Texarkana; and Charles Smith of Spring, Texas; four grandchildren, Kelly Starr Ducotey of Conroe, Texas; Phillip Suter of Dallas; David Kent Alford of The Colony, Texas; and John Christian Alford of Coppell, Texas; six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Highland Park Baptist Church with Dr. Gerald Cornelius and the Rev. Walter Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, under direction of East Funeral Home, Moores Lane. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Texarkana Daily Gazette, October 25,2003.
