Jennings: A mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings, LA on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 11 AM honoring the life of Hilda P. Blanchard, 84, who was called to her Heavenly Father April 26, 2012 while surrounded by her beloved family. Mrs. Blanchard will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. Reverend Charles McMillin will be officiating her funeral mass.
Hilda Blanchard was born in Crowley, LA on October 1, 1927 to the late Olieous Plaisance and the late Eva Crader Plaisance. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. Mrs. Blanchard loved to sew and work on her crafts. She enjoyed reading and saying novenaÂ's for people who were in need of them. Mrs. Blanchard is survived by one son, Rodney D. Schexnayder of Crowley, La.; One daughter, Gloria M. Schexnayder of Jennings, La.; Two brothers: Lloyd Plaisance of Jennings, La. and Wilbert Lee Plaisance of Lake Charles, La.; Nine grandchildren: Phil (Oledia) Schexnayder, Chad (Deborah) Abshire, Angelia (Drew) Arcement, Aaron (Cagney) Schexnayder, Damon (Kim) Schexnader, Duane (Miranda) Schexnayder, Daphne (Justin) Trumps, and Dana (Clay) Schexnayder.
Also, her 16 Great Grandchildren.
Mrs. Blanchard now rests in Heaven with her beloved family who preceded her in death: her parents, Olieous and Eva Crader Plaisance; husband, Chester Blanchard; daughter, Janet Abshire; Son-in-law, A.J. Abshire; grandson, Joshua Abshire; Sister, Mabel Leger; and brother Whitney P. Plaisance.
Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Tuesday, May 1st from 10:30 AM until 10 PM with a rosary recited at 6PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 8 AM until the time of her service.
