Agnes Libecki was the first child born to John Libecki and Rose Dembeck Libecki. She was born Sept. 29, 1917 and was named after Rose's mother, Agnes Dembeck. On August 18, 1924, a terrible accident claimed the life of 6-year-old Agnes. From the transcript of the coroner's investigation into her death, on file at the Milwaukee Historical Society, it seems the family had just returned from a picnic in the early evening hours of that summer day. Agnes was playing outside of the family home at 298 Hamilton St. when she darted out into the street between two parked cars and into the path of an oncoming bakery truck, all before the horrified eyes of her grandfather, Teophil, who witnessed the awful scene. She died of a skull fracture a short time later. She is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI.
