Stina left the parish in about 1873 to find work in Kristiania (Oslo). Here she met a young man named Nils Tostensen (son of Tosten Olsen and Anne Nilsdatter), who was also working in Oslo at that time, having arrived from Øier in Oppland province. Anne Kristine Larsen and Nils Torstensen (as their names appear in the Trefoldighet marriage records) were married August 26, 1877 in Oslo. Their first two children were born and died as infants in Oslo as well.
Nils, Kristine and Lauritz Thorstensen left Norway in 1881, a year after Trygve Lauritz was born. (Note how their surname has changed again.) Although their fourth child may have been born in Minneapolis, the next seven children were all born in St. Paul, MN in a section that was once called Gladstone. By 1900 their names had evolved into Nels Thorson and Stine. However, by her death November 16, 1926, she had become "Stina" and that name is on her gravestone. She was buried in Oakland Cemetery on November 19, 1926.
