Liebhaber, Dr. Josephine (Corliss) Josephine was born in 1917, passed away peacefully 3/30/09. Preceded in death by husband Louis, mother Date Ashburner, father Sherman Corliss, sisters; Betty, Sybil (Leland) Smith, brothers; William (Marge), Paul (Frances) Corliss. She is survived by 3 generations of nieces & nephews. Born in Camden, North Dakota, raised in Winona, Minnesota. She earned her teaching degree and went on to earn her masters & doctorate degrees. She married Lou in 1950 in Wells, Minnesota. Josephine taught English at Wells Senior High for over 37 years while her husband operated Lou's Food Market until his death in 1993. Josephine was awarded teacher of the year. She was an active member in the Chamber of Commerce, Wells Women's Auxiliary, Minnesota Teachers Association, and Wells Hospital Auxiliary. She donated to the Wells Health Career fund and wrote the rules, regulations & bylaws in 1957. She served as a republican national delegate in 1980 & 1984. She was honored with papal blessings from Pope John Paul II in 1997. Although she never had children of her own, she passionately loved those she taught. Her spirit was kind, energetic, and beautiful. Our family would like to thank her caregivers at Cerenity Care Center for their many years of care and love. Services will be at 10 a.m. April 4 at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel. Visitation will be one-half hour before services, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis. Entombment will be in the Lakewood Mausoleum.
