Amos Wise, son of Moses and Susan Heckman. Wise was born near Wakarusa, July 9, 1872, died at his home near Dixon, Ill, April 22, 1927, aged 54 years, 9 months and 13 days.
In 1893 he came to Sterling, Ill. In the community adjacent to Sterling and Dixon he resided until the time of his death with the exception of 5 years, when he with his family lived at Fontanelle, Ia.
On Dec 9, 1897 he was married to Martha Ebersole of Sterling, Ill, who preceded him in death on Aug 6, 1904.
To this union 5 children were born, 2 whom preceded their father in death.
In October 1912 he was married to Corinna B Wink of Sterling, Ill, who survives him.
He is also survived by 2 sons, Claude L of Steriing; Howard O of Chicago; one daughter, Mrs Lelia Seavey of Dixon, Ill; 4 sisters, Mrs Amanda Smeltzer of Wakarusa, Miss Almira Wise of Mishawaka; 2 brothers, Harvey of Wenatchee, Wash and Allen of Elkhart.
