Death of William C. Conner. At eight and a half o'clock on Sunday evening, our esteemed fellow-citizen, Mr. William C. Conner, for fifty years a resident of this city, breathed his last, after a short and painful illness. The death of no citizen has been more regretted. He came here when the site upon which New Albany is located, was a wilderness; and was one of those who assisted in reducing the forest and rearing our city, which is now one of the most beautiful on the banks of the Ohio. Mr. Conner was born in Scott County, Kentucky, on the 20th day of September, 1805, and at the time of his decease, was in the fifty-fifth of his age. - New Albany Daily Ledger 19 Mar 1860

A DISCOURSE: MEMORIAL OF WILLIAM C. CONNER, ESQ., PREACHED IN THE SECOND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, NEW ALBANY, MARCH 25TH, 1860, THE FIRST SUNDAY AFTER HIS DEATH, BY JOHN G. ATTERBURY, PASTOR. NEW ALBANY, IND.: NORMAN, MORRISON & MATTHEWS, PRINTERS. 1860. [This original pamphlet containing the complete memorial sermon can be found in the VF CONNER.]
