Carl LeRoy Blodgett of Huntersville, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the age of 72. He was born in Albany, MO, on May 5, 1939. He attended school and resided in Mound City, MO, until he joined the U.S. Air Force at age 17. Carl then went on to work for RCA in Brazil. He then worked for NASA in Mission Control from the 1980's until his retirement in 2001.

Carl was preceded in death by his father, John Donaldson Blodgett in 1968, and his mother, Sara Nelson Blodgett in 2011.

Carl is survived by his three children, Kimberly Renee Blodgett of Saluda, NC, John Parker Blodgett of Houston, TX, and Kandice Lynn Blodgett of Mooresville, NC; and his four grandchildren, Charles Leland Gibson, Madeline Claire Hobbs, Terrence John Hobbs and Andrew John-Parker Blodgett.

Carl should be remembered for his caring, giving, loving and humorous nature as well as his extreme intelligence. He was a wonderful father and man. Carl shot skeet all around the USA, and was a fan of both greyhound racing and Texas Hold'em.

There will be a personal memorial service held in Brevard at a later date.
