Howard "Chic" Lankford, 75, of 2819 W. Fountaindale Drive died at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1995, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Born Dec. 16, 1919, in Mount Carmel to William Edward and Stella Mae Woods Lankford, he married Dorothy S. Skelton on Aug. 8, 1945, in New Harmony, Ind. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, David S. of Arlington Heights; two grandchildren; two brothers, William L. of Mount Carmel and E.R. of Newburgh, Ind.; and one sister, Fern King of Mount Carmel.

A Caterpillar Inc. employee for 30 years, he retired as an art supervisor in 1982. An internationally known artist, he graduated from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 1951. He was a member of Willow Knolls Country Club, Peoria Art Guild and Lakeview Museum.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He also was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
