Armatys Family

The history of the Stanley Armatys family begins in Poland with his birth December 15, 1890 to Wojoiech and Anna Depukata Armatys. He moved to the United States in 1908 and lived in Omaha, Nebraska, for a few years before moving to Platte County. In 1918 he moved to the Cedar Rapids community to a farm southwest of town. On October 23, 1918 Stanley Armatrys married Valeria Micek at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rural Shelby, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Jacob and Victorua Iwan Micek, born march 23, 1897 in Polk County, Nebraska. The family farmed southwest of Cedar Rapids until 1939. At the time they purchased the Wm. McCurd farm just one-half mile east of them. They lived and farmed at this location until Stanley's retirement in 1964 after which they moved into Cedar Rapids. To this union were born four children, who all remain in the Cedar Rapids area: Francis (Ziemba) 2/8/1920, Theodore 1/11/1922, Stanley Jr. 5/7/1925, and Edmund 9/12/1927.
The family has been a member of Saint Anthony's Catholic Church , Cedar Rapids.
Stanley Armatys died May 6, 1980 in an Omaha hospital after a lengthy illness. He is survived at the time of this writing by his wife, Valeria, who still resides in Cedar Rapids, four children, thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grand children.
