Bessie N. Amend, 74, of 615 Newton St., died Thursday night at Leavenworth, Kans., where she was visiting a daughter, Mrs. William Miley. Mrs. Amend was a former resident of Menomonie and Cedar Falls and had made her home in Eau Claire for 36 years.

She is survived by a son, John A., Minneapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Miley, Mrs. Tom Trimble of Eau Claire and Ralph Horton of the Town of Washington; a brother, Erwin Bortle, Sumner, Wash., and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at Stokes and Sons Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday with the Rev. M. O. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 3 p.m. Sunday and until the time of services.

Bessie Amend's Burial Wisconsin

Bessie Amend, 74, Eau Claire, Wis., died late Thursday at Cushing Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Amend had been ill the past three weeks.

She had been visiting her daughter, Mrs. William J Miley, 806 Osage, since March 6.

She was born Feb. 13, 1891 in Eau Claire. On Dec 20, 1910 in Wisconsin she was married to John Amend. Mr. Amend died last December. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Eau Claire.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Horton and Mrs. Tom Trimble, both of Eau Claire, and Mrs. William J. Miley, 806 Osage; one son, John Amend Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, Erwin Bortle, Sumner, Wash., and 15 grandchildren.

The body has been removed from the Sumpter Funeral Chapel to the Stokes and Sons Funeral Home in Eau Claire, for service and burial.
