Mrs. Mary M. Tandy died at her residence in this city Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock, of congestion of the lungs, in the 53d year of her age. She had been sick only a few days but grew suddenly worse Thursday and passed away in a few hours. Mrs. Tandy was born in this county, and was the daughter of Col. R. W. and Mrs. C. V. Henry. Early in life she joined the Baptist church and has been a devout Christian ever since. She was a lady of well poised character, kind, charitable and loving. She married Mr. Chas. Tandy, who died about ten years ago. The funeral services were held at the residence Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock; Rev. J. N. Prestridge officiating. The interment took place at the city cemetery and a host of friends with hearts of grief followed her remains to its last resting place.
