Idelle Shackelford Sasser Jones, 90, of Zolfo Springs, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring.
She was born July 9, 1921, in Wauchula, and was a life-long resident of Hardee County. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her friends and ministering to people that were not able to get out.
Idelle was preceded in death by two beloved husbands, Luther Sasser Sr. and Bill Jones; son Luther "Hulon" Sasser Jr.; parents Lee and Lola Davis Shackelford; six brother Orrin, L.M., Lawrence, Rufus, Armond and Lamar Shackelford; and two grandson Michael Niclow and Rufus Sasser.
Survivors include two daughters Sylvia Nicklow and husband Nick of Zolfo Springs, and Gloria Edenfield and husband Jimmy of Orlando; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandhcildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Friday, May 4, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 404 W. Palmetto St., Wauchula. Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, at New Hope Baptist Church, with Pastor Chris Bishop officiating, and Robbie Nicklow and Marcus Shackelford speaking. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetry.
In lieu of floweres, the family has requested donations in memory of Idelle, be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870.
