He was born on May 2, 1819, and had lived in Lawrence thirty years. He was a member of the M. E. Church, and until his increasing illness prevented, was a very active worker.
He leaves a wife, two daughters, Mrs. E . H. Clark, of this village, Mrs. James Stevens, of Lowell, MA, and three sons,, Z. R. Butler, of North Lawrence; Linus R. Butler, of Massena, and. Elmer F. Butler, of Cambridge, Mass; also eight grandchildren.
Burial was made in Fairview cemetery in Brasher Falls.
