Born in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late George B. and Marie (Field) Sharbaugh.
Susan attended Albright College, received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, and than went on to do her advanced graduate work at Millersville University.
She met the love of her life, Jay, while teaching English at Hereford Jr-Sr High School in Hereford, MD, and they raised their family together in Shrewsbury. Susan was currently employed as a substitute teacher for the Southern York County, PA School District. Susan treasured her time in the classroom and touched the lives of so many students, co-workers, friends, and family. She always put others first and was known for her beautiful laugh, kind heart, and generosity to others.
She leaves behind many who will miss her dearly.
Susan is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jay Richard Garner; daughter, Jennifer Harrison and husband, Douglas; son, Jeff Garner and wife, Karla; grandchildren, Thomas Richard Harrison, Lola Elisa Garner, and Landon Gracen Garner; and sister, Elizabeth Jane Nadler. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews; and dear friends, Joseph and Ann Stemmy.
A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m., May 14, 2012, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., New Freedom, with interment in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
