This lovely lady is a second memorial to Charles Hazen. She stands several feet tall. It sits on a monument on which the family's inscriptions are written. There is a memorial to him in Trinity Church. In Dr. Botsford's memoir, Frances Elizabeth Murray wrote: ...[Mrs. Botsford] was much interested in the West window, a large memorial window, with three lights, which had been given by Dr. Botsford and his niece, and Mrs. Charles Hazen. It was manufactured by Clayton & Bell, of London, but, to our great disappointment, was not finished in time for the consecration. It was ot till February 21st that Mrs. Botsford writes: "Monday. Splendid day; streets dry; not cold. Went with the doctor and F----- and Mrs. Charles Hazen, to see our window for Trinity Church. Mr. Brigstocke[, the then Rector, the Rev. Canon F. H. J. Brigstocke, D.D.,] was also there. All were prefectly satisfied, and think it most beautiful. The subject is the Transfiguration. The doctor gives the left light in memory of his father and mother; Mrs. Charles the right for her husband. F---- has the centre in memory of her father and grand-father, the old Loyalist, Col. Murray." In Trinity Church , Saint John, New Bunswick, and Its Memorials, a booklet published in 1926, the date of the death of Charles Hazen is given: The West Window, consisting of three large lights, is filled with rich stained glass representing (conventionally) the Transfiguration. The South Light, given by Dr. Botsford, bears the following inscription: In memory of Hon. Wm. Botsford, died 1864, aged 91. Sarah Botsford, died 1850, aged 75; a tribute of filial affection.On the centre light, given by Miss Murray, is the following: To the glory of God, and in memory of John Murray, died August 30, 1794; also of Thomas Murray, died September 6, 1834.On the North Light, given by Mrs. Charles Hazen, is the following: In memory of a beloved husband, Charles Hazen, who died February, 1880, aged 78 years.The window was executed by Messrs. Clayton & Bell, of London.Charles Hazen was married to Margaret.
