Almon Teachout Jr., 94, of Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday at the VA Medical Center, after a brief illness. Almon was born on May 7, 1918, in Syracuse. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion Post 1832. He retired in 1981 from the Soils Division of the NYS Department of Transportation and was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, of 70 years, the former Nellie Sellers; his daughters, Ruby (Jack) Koslowski and Mary (Tom) Scimone; his grandchildren, Debbie (Darryl) Adsit, Patty (Randy) Filippi, Matthew (Jen), Michael and Timothy Scimone; his brothers, Roger S. (Nancy); his sister, B. Elizabeth (Douglas) Madison. Calling hours will be Saturday 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd. Services will be at the funeral home following calling hours and burial, with military honors, will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
