Ignatius Falatovich was born to parents Stephan Falatovicz, and Matrona Yuhas, on or about April 1865. He immigrated to the USA in 1887. Like most immigrants of the day, he found work in the local coal mines, and lived in housing owned by the mining company. On October 8th 1894 Ignatius married a girl named Barbara Galaijda, from a neighboring village back home. They moved into a home in the picturesque mining town of Silver Brook, located south of McAdoo, PA. In 1907, Barbara and Ignatius moved to McAdoo Pa. They were the parents of 5 children. Family history records Ignatius and a number of other miners, in the early 1910's, hand built the stone wall around the cemetery he now rests in (seen in the background).

The preceding bio was the result of my sister JoAnn Shirley's tireless efforts in researching and documenting our family's history.

I also wish to credit Ms. Sandy Duda from Lehighton, PA, Recordkeeper for the St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in McAdoo, PA for e-mailing me the photograph of their beautiful Marker.

In March 2013, I embarked on a nearly 2000 mile journey to visit the land of my ancestors and "reconnect" with my history and heritage. As part of this trip, I was able to visit this grave site and lay my hands upon the stone wall my great-grandfather helped build (bucket list item). While there, I placed a small stone from the wall upon their marker to let them know I had been there. Rest in peace my great-grandparents.
