Arthur Swall was born to pioneers, William and Emma Cole Swall, on a ramch homesteaded by his father. The ranch was known as the Deep Creek Ranch, along the Tule River. He was a brother to three other siblings, George Swall, William Jr. Swall and Walter Swall.

ART SWALL, NATIVE OF COUNTY, DIES

Arthur Swall, 76, a rancher and civic leader in rural Tulare for 42 years died of a heart attact suffered this morning at his home, route 4, Box 202-A east of Tulare. Born on a ranch 11 miles from Tipton was a decendant of a pioneer Tulare Co., family and had lived in the county all of his life. Most of his boyhood was spent in rural Tulare.

A director of what is now the Bank of America for more than 25 years; Swall also was a member and long time trustee of the Elks lodge and a past noble grand of the Odd Fellows. He recently celebrated his 55th wedding Anniversary. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Maude Swall; five children, Harold Swall and James Swall of Tulare; Stanley Swall of Visalia; Victor Swall of Thousand Oaks and Richard Swall of Corvalls Ore.; one brothe Walter Swall, Shell Beach; eighteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:30 pm Monday in the Hamilton Peers Funeral service chapel, with members of the Ellks officiating, Burial will be in the Tulare Cemetery.

The 1910 United States Federal Census for Arthur Swall found him living on a County Road From Vesalia to Tulare City, He and Maud owned their home and land, but it was mortgaged, Arthur was a fruit farmer. Arthur and Maud had been married 10 years and had two boys, Victor Swall 9, and Harold Swall 3.

The 1920 United States Federal Census for Arthur Swall
told that the the mortgage was paid On their home and farm. There were 14 employee living on the premises,

About 1924, son, irving married Gertrude Moon, and 1929, son, Harold married Helen no maiden name Swall.

The only new information on the 1930 census was that the home and farm was on Oakdale Road. The economy was improving after the great depression and the 1930 census ask if their was a radio in the home. Art and Maude indeed had a radio. The three boys at home were Richard Swall 18, James Swall 10 and Stanley Swall 8.
