Caroline was born Elizabeth Caroline Boon (1870 Census) but for most of her adult life went by Caroline. She is the only daughter of Richard and Lydia (Bacon) Boon.

She married Franklin Pemberton in 1878 at Terre Haute, Indiana. They have nine children: Richard 1879 - d.before 1900, Mary and Henry (twins) b.between 1880 and 1882 and d.before 1900, Clara, Alfred, Clay, Bill, and Dewey. The other child's name is unknown to me.

Funeral to be Held Monday Morning,
Burial Mt Vernon, Missouri

Mrs Lydia C Pemberton, widow of Frank Pemberton, died at her home, 330 East Walnut, at 8:30 last night, April 9th, after two weeks illness. She was 73 years, 8 months, and 11 days old at the time of her death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning in the Baptist church conducted by the pastor, Reverend W R Reeves, assisted by Reverend L O Hudson. Mrs Pemberton had been a member of the Baptist church for many years.

Following the services here the body will be taken in the Catlett funeral coach to Mt Vernon, Missouri, for burial in the family lot, by the side of her husband who died 39 years ago.

Mrs Pemberton was born in Crissman [s/b Chrisman], Illinois, on July 28, 1862. She has resided in Columbus for the past sixteen years.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs Clara Masters of Kansas City, Kansas, who has been caring for her mother; two sons Will C Pemberton of Chicago, and George D Pemberton of St Louis; twenty-four grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. One son, Alfred E Pemberton died in Kansas City in October 1936.

Caroline's stone was purchased by a granddaughter, Marie (Masters) McNeil.
