There died recently one more of
the old residents of this township
Mrs. Catherine Scharmerhorn Hyatt,
86 years, widow of the late Willet
Hyatt, whose death was noted in
these columns within little more than
a year. She was born in this state,
and had always lived in or near Lysander.
She and Mr. Hyatt were
married 57 years ago. They had one
son, who died in youth, and an adopt-
ed daughter, Mrs. Alvah Foster, who
survives her, and in whose home she
had lived for several years. For the
year preceding her death she had
been confined to her bed and had
been a constant care. She was a
member of the Congregational church
where her funeral services were held.
Rev. H. W. Barns, pastor of that
church, assisted by Rev. J. W. Redder,
pastor of the M. E. church here
during her illness, officiated; at the
funeral. Interment was in Lysander
cemetery. Mrs. Hyatt was widely
known in this vicinity. She was a
good neighbor and a loyal friend.
The community is the poorer for her
loss. Sympathy is extended to the
daughter and family.
