Whether or not this is the correct Henry Adams I do not know, but it seems logical, since he was born in Kentucky, would have probably supported slavery, is about the right age to join in the war, and moved to Monroe county around 1856.

1860 Missouri, Monroe County, Henry Adams age 32, Elizabeth age 30, Martha age 9, Charles age 7, James age 5, Walter(?) age 3, and Mary age 6 months. All were born in Kentucky except for Walter & Mary, who were born in Missouri.

Confederate Captain Henry Adams, born in Henry county, Ky., died in 1862, (Killed in Civil War Battle near Kirksville in 1862), son of James Adams and Katherine Thornton Adams.
From article written by his oldest son titled "Recollections of Judge C. W. Adams" and , published Jan. 17, 1940 in Shelbina Democrat. C. W. Adams was born Nov. 7, 1852.
"Adams family moved to 4 miles south of Lakenan from Henry county, Ky. in 1854. In 1862 Henry Adams went to war, he was a captain and killed in battle near Kirksville. When word was received he had been killed, his wife, Elizabeth Hall Adams, with a neighbor started to go for his body, but never got half way there as they decided it was not safe to go on account of the Union soldiers being everywhere. He was buried with the other soldiers at Kirksville, one of the company brought us the horse he was riding called "Old Slash Em" and his pocketbook containing $35. He was killed seven months before another son, Henry T. Adams birth Jan. 7, 1863."
